My Blog.

I do my best thinking whilst I'm walking my dog Lina (there she is in the pic). So, I'm going to call this section 'Lina Thinking'. I'll try to add weekly summaries of anything that pops into my head that may be of some value.

Lina Thinking

Take time to reflect

How often do we really take a breath to consider just how far we have come?

It's so important. It gives us the space to analyse what went well, what could have gone better, and whether our goals are still on track and appropriate.

As we approach the end of 2023, set some time aside to look at just how far you've come.

Change

As an Officer in the RAF I was subjected to significant change every 2-3 years.

I moved jobs, station, house, had to integrate with a new team, lead new people etc. It was challenging.

You don't get long to settle in, you are expected to perform. I learnt to thrive during change and managed to adapt quickly.

I can't wait to help others going through similar situations

The ups and downs

Wouldn't it be wonderful if everything happened just as we imagine it? The funny thing is, that it is my mindset that is on the biggest roller coaster. Nothing physically has changed, that is constant. However, how I feel about it changes almost daily.

It takes real conscious thought to get perspective, reflect and realise just how far you've come. Keep focussed on the next steps that take you closer to where you want to be.

Taking a break

After such a busy period it was lovely to take a break last week. We went to the Lakes in our camper and really went back to basics. Limited internet and phone signal forced us back to simplicity. We played games, talked, spent as much time as we could in nature and generally reconnected as a family.

In the last 12 months we have moved back to the UK from overseas, bought and moved into our house, my son has changed schools, we've started two businesses and I have left the RAF after 22 years.

So much change has robbed us of the opportunity to take a breath and reflect.

Last week provided the opportunity to do just that, be present and celebrate our progress so far.
